How to Access a Client's Facebook Ad Account

Did you hire a Facebook ad account manager, advertiser, ad analyst, or marketer to help optimize your ads? This article gives you step-by-step instructions on providing access to your Meta’s Business Manager.

Why Should You Give Access to Your Facebook Ad Account?

If you want someone to manage your Facebook ads, you need to add them to your Facebook ad account through Meta’s Business Manager. These individuals won’t be able to log in as you or access any information on your personal Facebook account, protecting your account’s security and privacy.

Why would you want to add people to your Facebook ad account? It allows you to collaborate with employees and freelancers you’ve hired to help make your business thrive online.

To make things easier, you can give people the following roles based on what permissions you'd like them to have:

  • Ad account admin: Admins can create, edit and view ads, access reports, edit payment methods (but won’t be able to see credit card information), and manage admin permissions.
  • Ad account advertiser: Advertisers can see, edit, and set up ads using the payment method associated with the ad account. They can also view the payment method (but not the credit card number).
  • Ad account analyst: Analysts can view ads and access reports to help you optimize future ads.

Adding employees and contractors to your ad account allows you to work on Facebook ads with other people in your business. However, the people you add won't be able to log in as you or see things on your profile or Feed that you haven't shared with them.

Here’s How You Can Add Someone to Your Ad Account

Before we get into how to add someone to your Facebook ad account, I want to point out that you can only give permission to people with a Facebook account. If they don’t have an account, they must sign up for Facebook before being added.

With that said, here’s how you can add someone to your Facebook ad account:

Step 1: Go to Ads Manager Settings. You may be asked to re-enter your password.

Step 2:  Under Ad Account Roles, select Add people.

Step 3: Enter the name or email address of the person who needs access to your account.

Step 4: Use the dropdown menu to choose their role and click Confirm.

From here on, the person you added will immediately access your account in the role you chose. By selecting Remove User, you can always change their permissions or remove a person from your ad account. (You can find that button next to their name.)

In Summary

As you can see, adding someone to your Facebook ad account is a straightforward process. Facebook has made it easy for you to collaborate with others without putting your account at risk.
